Comments Off on MESSAGE FROM REA PRESIDENT, CLAUDIA JO
It is an honor to introduce myself as your new REA President. I look forward to working with everyone in order to bring unity and consistency to our district. For the past ten years, I have held the position of classroom teacher at Washington Elementary School and understand what our current situation is and what our needs truly are. I will try my best to fulfill my top goals this year:
• Work with the Board Negotiating Team as a member of the REA Negotiation Team to negotiate a reasonable contract that reflects your top concerns of pay increase, Chapter 78 relief and a fair work load
• Establish open lines of communication between the REA and the Central Office
• Develop and maintain a partnership with administration to ensure the guidelines of our contract are being followed thus decreasing the amount of grievances
In order to accomplish these goals, we must work together. Please make your voices heard by attending Board of Education meetings, REA meetings or reaching out to your union representatives. REA meetings will be held at Washington Elementary School in room 10 on the 4th Monday of the month beginning at 3:30. (A specific schedule including all dates will follow once finalized.)
In addition, I have appointed Valerie Jozef, as our new REA treasurer. Ms. Jozef is a first grade teacher at Harrison Elementary School and I believe she will be a great addition to our Executive Board. I would like to extend a huge thank you to those who have reached out and have shown an interest in the position.
If you need to contact me, please feel free to reach out to me with any concerns at (908) 244-4215 or at REAPresident2018@gmail.com.

Comments Off on Welcome to the 2017- 2018 School Year
The Roselle Public School District kicked off the new school year at the Convocation which took place on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Abraham Clark High School. Roselle Schools Superintendent, Dr. Corbett introduced the new staff members and shared the district’s educational plan and learning expectations for the school year. This year will be a Great Year for organizing and moving our union forward. We as a union will be addressing many issues and hosting events during this school year. Our REA Negotiations Team will continue to work on obtaining a favorable contract between the Roselle Education Association and the Borough of Roselle Board of Education. We also look to host some Professional Development Workshops for our members to attend. A schedule of these events will be posted on the website. The REA is excited about supporting our NJEA Endorsed Gubernatorial Candidate, Ambassador Phil Murphy in his run for Governor of New Jersey in November. We are seeking relief from Chapter 78 and the overhaul of high stakes testing (PARCC). Our first REA New Membership Social will be held at Costas on September 29th from 3:30pm – 6:00pm. More information will be provided at each of the schools. Please continue to check out the REA Website for more updates. Have a Wonderful School Year!
